“A typical day in my role is helping to manage the engineer’s timetable. I help by booking in work and assigning engineers to callouts. I also answer phone calls and emails answering customer’s queries and assisting them in any way I can. This helps with the running of the business on the day to day. Someone should consider an apprenticeship because it’s a great way to start yourself off in the world of work. By learning and working at the same time I have been able to apply my learning while at work, and therefore able to improve my performance. Guardian has given me opportunities to input my own feedback on the business itself, and it feels good to be in a business that appreciates my thoughts and opinions”.
“I chose the apprenticeship route to enhance my confidence and acquire hands-on experience alongside experienced engineers. I received support from both staff and management in my role, and whenever I had issues or needed advice, people were always willing to assist. My daily tasks cover a range, including servicing, maintenance, breakdowns, and quoted works. I find it enjoyable because each workday brings something different.
Achieving my commercial gas qualification stands out as my major accomplishment since joining Guardian. It’s a goal I’ve been striving for since the beginning of my apprenticeship. Out on the road with different mentors, I’ve picked up various ways of doing things and gained valuable knowledge from their experience”.
“The company showed an innovative, team mentality that was very inviting they also offered plenty of opportunity to develop my career. I have always preferred the idea of an apprenticeship as it allows me to gain experience and hands on practice while I’m learning.
Guardian have been very true to their word and ensured all my training has been upheld to the dates that we set together and have been very accommodating to any extra Learning i have required. I enjoy the fact that everyone is treated with respect and the relationship I have developed with my coworkers. I have always been in mobile jobs, and I enjoy the difference from day to day you always come across something new which keeps the job interesting”.
“Entering the world of work as a nervous apprentice and not knowing what to expect was daunting, but the team were so helpful, welcoming, and friendly. Guardian invests in apprentices, helping individuals to kickstart their career and learn in an impactful way. The MD recognises the importance of bringing in young employees in the industry, and you have a fantastic support system at Guardian to ease you into the working world. Every day you learn and grow, in an environment where you enjoy working!”
“I was informed of the position by a friend, who was working for Guardian and still is. They told me it would be a great place to gain knowledge & build skills that I would need to get into the electrical industry and become a qualified electrician. And to date, it’s been good.
My college course really helped me to be able to reflect on the work I’ve done, it’s a good balance of practical and theory work.
The thing I enjoy most about working at Guardian would have to be the people. Honestly everyone I’ve encountered and spoken to have really helped me build my skills and knowledge. Staff have been patient, positive and supportive”.
