Powering forward: Guardian becomes government-approved installer of electric car charging points.
We’re proud to announce that we’ve been recognised as a government-approved installer of electric car charging points. Now we’re powering ahead to install and manage charging points for workplaces across the UK.
We’re delighted to be partnering with Rolec – one of the world’s leading specialists in outdoor electrical equipment – for this exciting new service, which will support businesses across many sectors to provide a greener, more sustainable infrastructure for their employees and stakeholders.
As an authorised installer from the government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), we can now help our commercial clients apply for grants towards the cost of installation, helping to reduce the outlay of installing charging points.
The government grants are designed to support the wider use of electric and hybrid vehicles, but work can only be carried out by approved installers using products from approved suppliers. The Workplace Charging scheme offers up to £500 per socket (up to a maximum of 20 sockets) for commercial properties.
With the rising popularity of electric vehicles, as businesses strive to cut fuel bills and meet their corporate social responsibility to lower their environmental impact, our latest initiative is timely. More than 47,000 plug-in cars were registered in 2017 taking the total on the road to 137,000, which is an increase of 94% since 2013. We expect high demand for sufficient vehicle charging points to meet this growing, and welcome, trend.
What does it mean to be an OLEV-approved charging point installer?
Our recent accreditation, along with our partnership with Rolec, offers peace of mind and exceptional service to install your electric vehicle charging points, making sure that:
- We meet the minimum technical standards outlined by OLEV
- All installations are carried out to strict criteria for electrical safety, quality and continuity
- We’ll be subject to stringent checks and auditing to support the highest industry standards.
What are the benefits of installing charging points?
As an employer, installing electric car charging points will help you to:
- Lower fuel costs
- Reduce corporate C02
- Reduce your fleet costs
- Reduce Class 1A National Insurance contributions
— and offers 100% first year tax allowance until April 2021.
